St. Louis Credit and Customer Service Center Literally Goes Green

POSTED UNDER By Our Associates

A plan to add flowering plants to the St. Louis call center was developed as a result of Robyn Hudson-Pooser recommending it to her supervisor. Macy’s regional call center in St. Louis is located in a 160,000-square foot former warehouse with few windows. Today, hundreds of flowering plants have been added to the office space that includes the employee break room and the lobby. It’s safe to say Robyn gave a pretty good recommendation.

The call center associates worked with a local company to install and maintain plants on walls and pillars throughout the call center. Associates also received individual plants.

The addition of green plants helps to:

  • Reduce stress
  • Improve productivity
  • Improve air quality
  • Give a positive effect on health and morale

“Although the entire building is well-lit, the plants do add a soothing touch that had been lacking,” said Brian J. Stout, Macy’s VP/MCCS Midwest. “We expect happy associates will translate into happy customers. The plants definitely help make our associates happier.”

The green walls and pillars showcase a total of 348 plants. The largest of the installations is a series of 30 planters, each holding a tropical array that includes bromeliads, sansevieria and pothos. Kudos to the St. Louis team for turning “green living” into a double meaning.
