Macy’s Credit and Customer Service Pioneers Eco Centers

POSTED UNDER By Our Associates

Teams of associates who work at the four Macy’s Credit and Customer Services (MCCS) facilities in Ohio, Arizona, Florida and Missouri established Eco Centers in 2011 to make recycling accessible for associates as well as benefit local charities. Due to its incredible success, other departments have followed their lead.

In spring 2012, Central Offices in Cincinnati established an Eco Center to celebrate Earth Week. Since then, the center has collected:

  • 73 large size bags of plastic bags
  • 65 rechargeable batteries
  • 172 cell phones
  • 65 pairs of tennis shoes
  • 71 pairs of prescription eyeglasses

Since 2008, 62 tons have been recycled, and since 2013, 5.3 tons have been composted.

Kemper Road in Cincinnati also established an Eco Center and has collected:

  • 6 silos of plastic bags
  • 35 rechargeable batteries
  • 48 cell phones
  • 30 pairs of tennis shoes
  • 50 pairs of prescription eye glasses

Since 2013, Kemper Eco Center has recycled 18,100 pounds of cans, bottles and cardboard has composted 4.2 tons of compost.

Huge thanks go out to our innovative MCSS facilities, along with all stores and associates who have participated.
