Macy’s Earth Week 2015 Promotes Celebrating Earth Day Everyday

POSTED UNDER By Our Associates

Another Earth Week has come and gone, and once again we’re blown away by the support and participation from our associates, partners and vendors throughout Macy’s locations across the country.

Green Living’s message was clear for Earth Week: Celebrate Earth Day Everyday. To make sure this message was shared, we worked hard to increase awareness and engagement of all the Earth Week activities Macy’s had to offer. We did this through:

  • Our “Why Do You Go Green?” video featuring Macy’s associates and their reasons for going green.
  • Our RE-Think Contest: An interactive contest for Macy’s associates to enter their most creative ways to reduce, reuse or recycle. Those associates whose suggestions are chosen as most creative will win a special sustainable prize package! Macy’s associates also got to decide the winner through a poll on My IN-SITE. Be on the lookout for our announcement of winners!
  • Streamlining information for associates to easily start their own Go Green ERG (Employee Resource Group). The Go Green ERG is a passionate group of associates that help educate and create awareness around topics of sustainability.

In addition, we had tremendous engagement from our associates through a diverse collection of sustainable activities from coast-to-coast. Highlights include:

MCOM in San Francisco:

  • Earth Day Park Beautification: Volunteers participated in a park clean up at Union Square

MCS Corporate Office Cincinnati:

  • Players for the Planet E-Waste Recycling Event (see last year's here!)

Macy’s Logistics and Operations:

  • Tree Planting
  • Adopted road clean-up day
  • Planted flowers and vegetables in a community garden
  • Daily word searches, fun facts and crossword puzzles and daily prizes

Macy’s Stores and Energy Services:

Earth Week is a chance to bring Macy’s associates from all over the company together under one united goal: spreading awareness about sustainability. If this review proves anything, it’s that we took full advantage of that opportunity in 2015. Thanks to all who participated, and don’t forget to celebrate Earth Day everyday – even today.
