Go Paperless

One of the simplest ways to become more environmentally friendly is cutting down on paper usage. Technology has made the need for many documents obsolete. And did you know going paperless is more convenient for you in most instances? As much as Macy’s is for going paperless, we’re also huge fans of win-win scenarios.

Paper makes up more than 50 percent of office waste. Our goal: Reduce paper usage nationwide throughout our Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores, offices, distribution centers and everywhere in between.

You can easily do your part in reducing our paper usage by following some simple guidelines:

  • Make printing and copying a need instead of a want
  • Don’t print early drafts of documents that are subject to revision
  • Two for One! Print or copy on both sides of the sheet
  • Reuse blank second sides of copies for notes or scrap paper
  • Don’t over-copy
  • Write agendas on a white board
  • Go digital - give presentations on-screen and follow up with electronic copies
  • Save documents in network drives
  • Don’t ask for reports you don’t need
  • Reduce use of cups, bags and napkins; invest in reusable mugs, water bottles, lunch bags and totes

There are plenty of creative ways to reduce paper waste. Use these tips as a jumping off point to become as paperless as possible.
